Government Net Zero

Net Zero Strategy

This strategy outlines how the UK will achieve net zero emissions by 2050. It includes measures to support businesses and consumers in transitioning to clean energy and green technology.

Key Components of the Net Zero Initiative

Investment in Green Industries

The initiative aims to unlock up to £90 billion of private investment by 2030 and support 440,000 well-paid jobs in green industries.

Electrification of Vehicles

An additional £350 million is committed to support the electrification of UK vehicles and their supply chains.

Sustainable Aviation Fuel

The government is working to commercialise sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) made from sustainable materials, which produces over 70% fewer carbon emissions than traditional jet fuel.

Energy Security

Reducing reliance on imported fossil fuels and boosting clean energy production to protect consumers from global price spikes. The initiative is a collaborative effort involving the UK government and the Devolved Administrations of Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. It builds on existing strategies such as the Heat and Buildings Strategy and the Scottish Heat in Buildings Strategy.
